The company

Trusted AI evaluation, starting in education.

Anywhere people score open ended answers at scale, they need it to be consistent, explainable, and private. We are building that, beginning with the place it matters most: the classroom.

A wedge, not a ceiling

Universities are our entry point, not our limit. The same engine that grades coursework scores open ended answers everywhere they are evaluated. As trust in the model grows, the same product moves outward.

Start here

Higher education

Courses, programs, and online learning that grade short answers and assignments.

Then

Certification and licensure

Exam and credentialing bodies that need scoring they can stand behind in an audit.

Then

Corporate learning

Training and compliance teams assessing open responses across large workforces.

Then

Skills and coding

Technical assessment platforms scoring work that has more than one right form.

The hard part is the same in every one of these: a score that does not drift, comes with evidence, and never has to leave the customer's walls. We build that once.

Where we're headed

Now

Reliable, private grading

Consistent scoring with rationale and feedback for STEM coursework, piloted with university partners.

Next

Assessment integrity

Consistency checks, appeals support, and audit ready records across a department.

Later

Private tutoring and feedback

Self hosted feedback that guides students, and the same trusted engine beyond the campus.

Who's behind it

Rubrica is founded by Jing Shao, a PhD researcher at the University of Arizona working on trustworthy LLM evaluation, alongside fellow researchers across Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Northeastern, and Boise State.
